| Once you have a TiVo, you will never be able to live without it. You will be thoroughly annoyed every time you have to watch TV somewhere that there isn't one. Thusly, I bought this TiVo for my brother so that I don't ever have to be without it when I visit him. |

Tivo---Television worth watching |
This 40-hour Tivo is our second machine. This in a family that swore we would never own one. Recently, we recorded the entire Tour de France and watched it at our discretion, sometimes back to back stages, and my wife watches Oprah and General Hospital when she has the time.
This is an intelligent, excellent replacement for the old VCR. The 40-hr hard drive is a bit small, I recommend the 140 hr version.
The features of the Series 2 machines make them indespensible like: Easily skipping through commercials, recording a season pass of TV shows and watching them when you want, networking your Tivo to your home network to transfer shows between Tivos or to your PC, selecting shows to record from a Web browser anywhere in the world and have the program ready to watch when you get home.
Once setup and registered with Tivo, the menus are easy to use, the options for each recording plentiful and the quality of the playback, even in Basic recording mode, is excellent.
Our Tivo have enabled us to watch only the TV shows we want, when we want and speed through the parts that are of no interest. Tivo is what TV should have always been.
Did I mention you can pause live TV and continue watching when you are ready! Wow. |

Love TiVo, Love having control over what I watch |
So previously to TiVo I would set a VCR to record my shows and many times I would miss a show due to the fact times change frequently for shows, sometimes they even add an extra minute or so a few weeks. After installing TiVo I had no problems with missing any of my shows again. I record on average about 10+ hrs of TV a week and now with TiVo I only watch about 8 because its so easy to skip the commercials and have control of what I am watching.
I have this TiVo box working perfectly with my DirectTV box using the IR device. It is so easy to use that a child could pick up the remote and be working TiVo flawlessly in minutes.
I would give TiVo 5 stars, but sometimes TiVo just seems a little slow for me. It has a 1-2 second pause when switching from Live mode to TiVo mode and I just wish it would go a little quicker. Nothing to cry home to mom about though.
