Gave Sony a 2nd chance, still sucks |
After years of problems with Sony home elctronics (and car audio) problems, I gave them another chance and bought this phone. Seemed pretty nice at first. Great screen and buttons. That's all it has going for it.
Menus are incredibly slow, signal strength sucks, voice quality sucks. It tends to break apart when dropped (it happens). The screen is fantastic though... |

Works Well |
| I've had this phone for 9 months or so and the only complain would have to be low signal quality. The bluetooth feature is excellent, though when using the jabra 250vt you have to switch to powersave mode or your phone's battery will drain quickly! Bluetooth with my computer is excellent, add tones from the internet, transfer photos from the phone, and backup contacts via the bluetooth/computer function. Great size, my screen is scratched because i put it my pocket with my keys (owner error ;-) ) I'm moving soon and cingular doesn't have service at my new location but i'll definately unlock the phone and use it again. 4 out of 5 for the below average signal quality. |

The quick buttons cause more problems than it should... |
I've had this phone for about 7 months now. I mainly bought it for its compact design (even though I've always liked flip phones in the past) and most of the reviews I read before purchasing it seemed pretty good to me.
The only problem I had with this was the "easy to access the internet" feature. As some people have complained on here, mine would connect randomly and I'd have to write to Cingular every month for the first three months and make them reimburse me for the charges. And this all happened even with the auto key lock feature because sometimes I would press the "end" call button twice and it'd try to connect to the internet.
Now, I'm used to using this phone, so that rarely happens. I make sure that my friends know when they are using my phone not to hit the end button twice at the end of each call.
It takes rather bad pictures, but it's good enough to recognize the faces. Also, you can't download polyphonic ringtones.
Overall, I'd say I feel ambivalent about the phone. I like it enough, but I must admit, I did start looking for another phone 2 months after I bougth it... And I was especially furious when I got a mailing from Amazon that I wasn't eligible for the $200 rebate because I bought the phone one day before the rebate started. Granted, I should have looked at all the fine prints, but WHY DID THEY ADVERTISE THE REBATE NEXT TO THE PHONE IF IT WASN'T CURRENT!? Yeah... I was pretty pissed.
I do get a lot of compliments on how "cute" the phone is from random people though, if that counts for anything. |
