High pitched whine, defective design |
Don't buy one of these until they fix what must be a design flaw. As others have noted, there is a high pitched whine audible whenever the box is switched on. It's there regardless of whether any music is playing or not. This is almost certainly a design flaw. It could be aliasing noise, a leaky carrier tone, etc.
XM is an interesting concept, but this boombox is poorly implemented. |

PLEASE!! After one trade in. |
We bought this boom box and had a lot of trouble getting the XM to load. After one return, we noticed the same problem. After foolin' around with it we noticed if we pressed it down, we'd get perfect signal and sound.
But, the thing that most impressed us was, we left it on our deck twice in the rain (once was a full afull fledge thunder storm) and to our surprise it held up!!!

| I bought this to use in my office, and it's great. I'm addicted to XM, so it's nice to have in the car and office. And, of course, I can bring the boom box anywhere. And the price keeps going down. Definitely a great accessory. |
